Hello! I’m Eugene Lotsu.

I’m a computer science student at William Jewell College (GPA 3.915) and a software engineer with a strong interest in AI and machine learning research. My background is in building scalable software systems, and I’m increasingly focused on applying those engineering skills to research-driven problems.

Most of my experience lies at the intersection of software engineering and AI. I’ve built serverless AI systems that combine computer vision, large language models, and geospatial validation on AWS. My project, Build4Me, was selected as a semifinalist in the AWS 10,000 AIdeas Competition (Top 1,000).

I’m currently expanding my research experience through the SISTER AI/ML Research Fellowship with the Delta Rising Foundation and an upcoming faculty-mentored undergraduate mathematics research project at William Jewell College. These experiences reflect my long-term goal of contributing to AI/ML research, particularly in trustworthy AI, AI safety, and intelligent systems.

This summer, I’ll join FlyRank as a Back-End AI Engineering Intern, where I’ll continue developing AI-powered backend systems while strengthening the technical foundation that supports my research interests.

Outside of academics, I’m a four-time Dean’s List student, a member of ColorStack and CodePath, and previously served as Vice President of the African Student Union.

I’m actively seeking opportunities where I can contribute to AI/ML research, scientific computing, and backend AI systems while continuing to grow as a researcher and engineer.
